I'm so terribly sorry. Our house was broken into a year ago this time, and it was such a dreadful violation, to think that someone had wandered into my sanctuary, and strewn filth around.

I'll hold out hope that things will be found.

Ooo! I was going to go to sleep, but I was wooed by your delicious haiku! And now this . . .
"thirsty for your themes
your penmanship"

"to become a composition worthy of close-reading
and one that would instill in others
a propensity
for poetry"

I love the shift after "but." I feel the cadence shift from the hurried self-scrawling to a desire for the steady, faithful handwriting of a masterful Author of Creation.

Love, love, love! Keep your poetry coming, my friend.

I wrote a song about passing the pen to God years ago (I think I told you this already).

Hey Will, just noticed you stopped by mine recently! how've you been?

I ran a short rant on US perceptions of the NHS back in August. Most of the debate from the right seems highly polemic. .. so I've responded in kind ;)

Relating the above quotes to today's political challenge. Should the government take responsibility for the poor (uninsured) at the expense of "personal" responsibility? At what cost to pesonal reward? (Heavenly!)

Hi Pat
The full sentence reads:
"It appears Christians will take Sola Scriptura as far as they can if it lets them avoid issues that make them uncomfortable."
The way the sentence is structured means it logically only applies to a group of Christians.. big or small.. who abuse Sola Scriptura. Obviously this is not all Christians, else it would be pointless me writing the post in the first place.

I am a first visitor to this site. I am a born again Christian for probably 5 years now And perhaps this isn't the same for everyone as I don't know for sure that I have gone through any of these stages. While I am a servent of God, I am still not without sin. Jesus who died for all mans sins has given me grace. And Grace is how I have a true relationship through the Father. Pastors are hugely important they lead us and guide us, they pray for us and they have dedicated their life to serve. The Bible is the word of God for without and it we would have no way os sharing the good news with anyone. Have you thought of the word History ... HIS STORY it is factual. We could not come to where we are going without!
Sadly, the heart can be decietful, looking inward, giving us pride and idolitry of self. Perhaps I just don't understand the stages well enough to put myself into one. Nor will I accept any of the stages you label me with. But what I do know is that God works everyday in my life, some times He uses godly people and sometimes He uses people that have no fear of Him at all. But every day is a blessing whether its filled with roses or dandilions.

It was actually a chain effect! I started out on my friend Amber's blog Girl Healthy at http://www.girlhealthy.com and, after checking out the blogs that she follows, found A Thing with Feathers which I found inspirational. And right now, it's killing me that I can't remember Ciana's exact post that led me to here from there... But that's the chain of events!

Wow... Found your blog whilst blog-surfing through a friend's. Your post has been truly enlightening. I find for myself that I have been floating in the uncertain world of Stage 4. While I recently tried to reestablish myself in a local church, I never felt truly connected. I guess I could not resign myself to focus my faith merely through the words and ideals of my Pastor -- I just couldn't swallow what he was dishing out every Sunday. While I know I have a long way to go, I am definitely planning on checking out Dr. Fowler's book. Thanks again for the words of wisdom and the inspiration!

How frustrating! These funding cuts sound awful; thanks for the peek into NZ politics.

It seems leaders would recognize that early prevention or attacking root causes like poverty and other social injustices would be a wise investment to treat a problem as opposed to bandaging a problem with boot camps. I believe those have not been terribly successful here in the States. Hmmmm . . .

Interesting that the main goal of these "walls" is to keep others out, but the tragic side-effect is that they also make it very difficult for anyone who wants to get out to help those on the outside.

I, too, find it sad when we get bogged down in these debates instead of being present to God alive and among us. Who cares how God created the world when God is constantly recreating us right now and begging us to join in these acts of re-creation--from re-creating the story of the single mum (a new word for me--hehe) to the stories of war and famine and faithlessness.

We have a lot of self-proclaiming Christians who are really good at worshiping this Christ of ours without experiencing this same Christ. Experiences in Christ lend themselves to mystery and wonder and the unexplained. When God is an entity that we do something for, to or at, it's probably easy to try to prove our rightness or others' wrongness. When we become swept into this crazy/beautiful intimate relationship with a mystical Christ, we experience God in a way that helps us dig down to the jewel of our faith: we serve a God so great and so full of glory that we cannot even conceive God's glory. I agree . . . even Christ didn't overdo the explanations and proof.
