Big News, and a Little Person

Well, the big news is… I’m going to be a Father! I didn’t want to share the news with many people until Hinemoa (the mother) was past the 12 week period.

This this news has been a shock to most people (as it was to me), but my life is obviously going to change drastically in ways I had not anticipated. I am still completing my thesis at Victoria University, and due to a lucky mixup at the enrolments office with I am enrolled till December 2007, so I have a lot more time to complete the thesis then anticipated (though I hope to complete it before the baby is due on August 2nd). While I study I will also be working part-time to supplement my student allowance and support the baby.

Hinemoa, the mother, is an old flatmate of mine. We are good friends who are committed to providing the best for this baby.
This is going to be a challenging time, but Hinemoa and I are really excited about being parents!
